Fabinho is set to reunite with his former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah at Trabzonspor after the Turkish club officially announced his signing on Monday morning.

The Brazilian midfielder became a free agent after leaving Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad this summer, and Trabzonspor moved quickly to bring him to Turkey, where he will link up with Salah once again.

The club have already shared footage of Fabinho wearing the Trabzonspor shirt after arriving in the city on a private jet.

“A familiar face is waiting for me in Trabzon,” Fabinho said in a post shared by Trabzonspor on social media, referring to Salah, who joined the club earlier this summer.

Salah has already made a strong start to life at Trabzonspor, scoring twice in the club’s 2-1 victory over Basaksehir. His brace helped the Turkish side maintain an unbeaten record after their opening two matches of the season.

Trabzonspor also confirmed Fabinho’s arrival on social media, calling on supporters to gather at Trabzon Airport to welcome the Brazilian midfielder.

“Fabinho is coming! We await all our fans at Trabzon Airport at 11:30 AM for the big meeting and to welcome the Brazilian star,” the club said.

Salah received a huge reception when he arrived in Turkey, with tens of thousands of Trabzonspor supporters turning out to welcome the Egyptian star. Fans lit flares and chanted his name as he made his way into the city.

The winger described the reception as “incredible”, saying he struggled to find the words to express how much appreciation and affection he had received. Reports suggested that around 25,000 supporters gathered to welcome him to the club.

Salah, 34, and Fabinho, 32, will not be joined by their former Liverpool teammate Darwin Nunez, after the striker’s proposed move to Trabzonspor fell through earlier this summer.

Nunez is instead expected to join Al Diriyah on loan from Al Hilal.
