Fresh off their historic domestic triumph, Mġarr United have officially discovered the path for their maiden voyage into European football following the UEFA Women’s Champions League First and Second Qualifying Round draws.

The draws, which took place at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on Thursday, 18th June 2026, mapped out an exciting debut campaign for the Maltese champions. Mġarr secured their coveted spot on the continent’s biggest stage after capturing their first-ever Assikura Women’s League title last season.

The First Qualifying Round: Group 5 Mini-Tournament

The First Qualifying Round will feature a high-stakes, mini-tournament format. Teams are split into groups to play knockout Semi-Finals, with the winners advancing to a final match to determine who punches their ticket to the next stage.

Mġarr United have been placed in Group 5 and will face Estonian stalwarts Tallinna FC Flora in a grueling Semi-Final clash. Should the Maltese side emerge victorious, they will book a date against Slovakian champions Spartak Myjava in the group final.

Looking Ahead: Second Qualifying Round Potential

UEFA also mapped out the itinerary for the Second Qualifying Round, giving Mġarr a clear view of what lies ahead if they manage to top their mini-tournament.

Should Mġarr qualify, they will advance into Group 6, setting up mouth-watering fixtures against Albanian powerhouse KF Vllaznia, Cypriot regulars Apollon Ladies, and the eventual winner of the First Qualifying Round’s Group 4.
