Bormla Subbuteo Club has added another remarkable milestone to its history after becoming the most consistently top-ranked club in world table football.

The announcement was made by the International Federation of Sports Table Football (FISTF), which confirmed that Bormla has broken the all-time world record for the longest consecutive stay at the top of the world team rankings. The Maltese club has now spent 25 straight months as the world’s number one-ranked team, surpassing the previous record of 24 months that had stood for the past 12 years.

The achievement comes after another outstanding season for the Cospicua-based club, which has continued to dominate both locally and internationally.

During the current campaign, Bormla competed in 19 tournaments across the world, winning eight titles, finishing runners-up on seven occasions and reaching one semi-final. The club also secured the 2026 Maltese championship and reached the final of the Champions Cup, further strengthening its position at the summit of world table football.

The latest success also marks another milestone in Bormla’s history, with the club now having won 22 major titles during its 17 years of existence.

In a statement, the club expressed its gratitude to its committee, players and supporters for their continued commitment and dedication, while also thanking the organisations and sponsors that have supported its journey. These include VisitMalta, SportMalta, Mykonos by Yiammas, Prima Holidays, Euroclub Hotel, EJCS, Mamzinobet, Cospicua Dynamos and the Bormla Local Council.

To celebrate the historic achievement, Bormla Subbuteo Club will hold a barbecue on 7 August, bringing together players, members and supporters.

The club also paid tribute to former players Jason Pisani, Bessim Golger, Christian Haas, Alexander Haas and David Bermudez Gonzalez for their contribution to the team’s success.

Looking ahead, Bormla announced four new additions to its squad as it aims to extend its dominance on the international stage. Portuguese player Ruben Santos, Frenchman Axel Donval, Maltese player Adrian Bonnici and Englishman Christian Short have all joined the club ahead of the upcoming season.
