Sliema Nexawin, Marsaxlokk MFF Ltd and Barracudas all recorded important victories as Match Day 10 of the BOV Summer League continued with three entertaining encounters at the National Pool Complex.

Sliema maintained their impressive run of form with a 15-11 victory over Sirens Build Fitness in the standout fixture of the evening, while Marsaxlokk staged a remarkable comeback to beat Ta’ Xbiex Amigos 18-15. Earlier, Barracudas produced a dominant display to overcome Otters Nivea 18-10.

The headline clash between Sirens and Sliema lived up to expectations, with the two sides locked at 5-5 after an entertaining opening quarter. Sliema edged ahead before the interval and then took complete control after the break, producing a superb third-quarter display to open a commanding advantage before closing out a deserved 15-11 victory.

Francesco Di Fulvio, Benji Cachia and Jake Cachia each scored three goals for Sliema, while Julian Chircop added two. Daniel Angyal was Sirens’ standout performer with six goals, but his efforts were not enough to prevent defeat.

Earlier in the evening, Marsaxlokk recovered from a five-goal half-time deficit to stun Ta’ Xbiex Amigos 18-15.

After trailing 11-6 at the interval, Marsaxlokk completely transformed the contest with a dominant second half, winning the final two quarters 12-4 to complete an impressive turnaround.

Nikola Bogdanovic led the way with seven goals, while Enrico Mallia added six in an outstanding attacking display. Ta’ Xbiex were inspired by Roko Pelicari, who netted eight times, but ultimately surrendered their early advantage.

The day’s opening fixture saw Barracudas continue their strong form with a comfortable 18-10 victory over Otters Nivea.

Barracudas laid the foundations for victory with a fast start, opening up a five-goal lead by half-time before maintaining control throughout the second half.

Marton Doczi was virtually unstoppable in front of goal, scoring an outstanding 12 goals to spearhead Barracudas’ attack. Jean Borg was Otters’ leading scorer with three goals in an otherwise difficult evening for his side.
