Sancho trains at non-league Flixton during search for new club

Jadon Sancho has been keeping himself match-fit by training with Flixton, a club competing in the 10th tier of English football, as the former Manchester United winger weighs up his next move after becoming a free agent.
Sancho arrived at Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 in a deal worth around £73 million, but he struggled to live up to expectations at Old Trafford. His spell took a dramatic turn when he was frozen out of the first-team squad after claiming publicly that he had been made a “scapegoat.”
The 26-year-old later returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan before spending the following season with Chelsea, where he played a key role by scoring in the UEFA Conference League final.
Sancho then joined Aston Villa on loan for the 2025/26 campaign and was part of the squad that lifted the Europa League trophy. However, he found regular first-team opportunities difficult to come by and was unable to cement a starting place.
Villa ultimately decided against making the move permanent, leading to Sancho’s return to Manchester before his release at the end of his contract in June.
The former England international has since been linked with a switch to Al Rayyan, with the Qatari club reportedly monitoring his situation. In the meantime, Sancho has been training with Flixton to maintain his fitness ahead of securing his next club.
Sancho also expressed his appreciation to the non-league side, thanking Flixton for opening their doors and praising the club’s facilities in Greater Manchester as he continues preparing for the next chapter of his career.
