Sunderland are reportedly exploring a deal to sign Manchester City winger Jack Grealish on a season-long loan.

The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at Everton, where he registered two goals and six assists in 22 appearances before an injury brought his campaign to an early end.

Grealish, who joined Manchester City for a reported £100 million, has struggled to establish himself as a regular under Pep Guardiola and subsequently dropped down the club’s pecking order.

However, the England international appeared to have been given a fresh opportunity under new City manager Enzo Maresca.

Maresca introduced Grealish at half-time during City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal. He was then handed a brief cameo in their Premier League opener, coming on for the final eight minutes as City edged past Bournemouth.

According to The Athletic, Sunderland have now made an offer to bring Grealish to the Stadium of Light on loan for the remainder of the 2026/27 season.

Manchester City would reportedly cover part of the England international’s salary as part of the proposed agreement. The deal could also give Sunderland the opportunity to make the move permanent when Grealish’s current contract with City expires next summer.

The potential move is understood to be part of a wider recruitment push, with Sunderland also working on a deal to sign Marseille winger Igor Paixao.
