Mantas Makutunovicius and Shakira Bugeja named Best Beach Soccer Players of 2026

Mantas Makutunovicius and Shakira Bugeja were awarded the Best Player honours in their respective categories in the 2026 Beach Soccer Championship.
Makutunovicius, a Lithuanian international beach soccer player, played a key role in helping Sliema win the men’s championship. In addition to scoring a brace in the final, which was held last Monday, he delivered consistent performances throughout the competition.
The Best Men’s Goalkeeper award went to Jonathan Grech of La Playa de Arena, while the top scorers of the tournament were Ayoub Ahmad of WA Agency and Mario Dominicus of Costa Viola, both finishing with 24 goals.
In the women’s competition, Shakira Bugeja of Birkirkara Beach Soccer was voted Best Player of the tournament for the second consecutive year. The 24-year-old helped her team secure the title after defeating Sliema 8–7 on penalties.
The Best Women’s Goalkeeper award was won by Rachelle Lynn Borg of Birkirkara, while the top scorer was Brazilian forward Vanessa Honorio Carneiro of Sliema.
The honours were presented by Malta Beach Soccer Association president Mauro Camilleri Darmanin and MFA vice-president Adrian Casha.
