Nicholas Carabott emerged victorious in the Trap 50+Final competition organised by the Qormi Clay Shooting Club on Sunday.

Carabott claimed the overall honours after an exciting final, finishing ahead of Ryan Bugeja, while Emmanuel Bugeja completed the podium in third place.

Competitors initially shot at 50 qualifying targets before the top eight progressed to the final, contested over single-shot targets.

Emmanuel Bugeja produced the outstanding performance of the qualifying stage, hitting two perfect straights to register a flawless 50/50. Ryan Bugeja qualified with 47/50, followed by Brian Galea on 46/50.

Philip Camilleri and eventual winner Carabott both registered 44/50, while Abiel Cassar scored 43/50. Ryan Cini and Rennie Deguara completed the eight-man final after both qualified with 40/50.

Carabott raised his level when it mattered most in the final, eventually securing victory with a score of 28/30.

Ryan Bugeja finished runner-up with 26/30, while Emmanuel Bugeja took third place with 21/25. Deguara placed fourth on 17/20, followed by Galea and Cassar, who both registered 11/15. Camilleri finished seventh with 4/10 and Cini eighth with 2/10.

In the individual classes, Emmanuel Bugeja topped Class A following his perfect 50/50 qualifying score. Ryan Bugeja placed second with 47/50 and Galea was third on 46/50.

Camilleri headed Class B with 44/50, ahead of Carabott, also on 44/50, and Cassar with 43/50.

Cini won Class C after hitting 40/50, with Paul Formosa taking second place on 38/50 and Hubert Baldacchino third with 37/50.

Attention now turns to the seventh MSSF Trap National Selection Shoot, which will be held on September 12 and 13 at the National Shooting Ranges in Ta’ Kandja.
