Nicholas Carabott wins Trap President’s Cup 2026

Nicholas Carabott emerged as the overall winner of the President’s Cup 2026 Trap competition, held on Sunday at the Malta National Shooting Ranges.
Carabott claimed victory after an impressive final round, finishing ahead of Ryan Bugeja, who placed second, and Nico Sciberras, who completed the podium in third place.
The competition was contested over 75 qualification targets, followed by an ISSF-style final in which the leading shooters competed over a further 30 targets.
Sciberras topped the qualification standings with a score of 70 out of 75, followed by Carabott on 67. Luke Cassar finished third in qualification with 66, while Shazen Grech, Ryan Bugeja and Emanuel Bugeja all registered 65.
However, Carabott produced his best performance in the final, scoring 25 out of 30 targets to secure the President’s Cup. Ryan Bugeja finished second with 22, while qualification leader Sciberras placed third with 19.
The final overall standings were:
- Nicholas Carabott – 25/30
- Ryan Bugeja – 22/30
- Nico Sciberras – 19/25
- Luke Cassar – 15/20
- Emanuel Bugeja – 12/15
- Stephen Vella – 12/15
- Martin Xuereb – 7/10
- Shazen Grech – 3/10
In the respective qualification classes, Sciberras won Class A with 70/75, ahead of Ryan Bugeja and Emanuel Bugeja.
Carabott topped Class B with his qualification score of 67/75, followed by Cassar and Grech.
John Marmara claimed first place in Class C with 60/75, ahead of Jeremy Vassallo on 59 and Silvio Calleja on 54.
The next Trap competition on the local calendar will be the MSSF Trap Competition 50+50+25 (T4), scheduled to take place on Sunday, 30 August, at the Malta National Shooting Ranges in Ta’ Kandja.
