Maltese driver Noel Baldacchino has been selected by the Malta Racing Club to represent Malta in the second leg of the Mediterranean Horseracing Union Drivers Championship. The event takes place today, Friday, 4 September 2026, at the Casarano racetrack in Italy.

The championship races are part of a major highlight in the Casarano racing calendar: the Gran Galà dell’Ippica del Mediterraneo. The event’s schedule also features the prestigious Gran Premio del Salento and the Champions League dei Comuni del Salento.

An Experienced Representative

Baldacchino, widely regarded as one of Malta’s top drivers, has represented the nation across various international competitions and driver exchanges. Donning the red and white jacket of Malta, he has secured excellent results and memorable victories at several prestigious tracks.

His participation in Italy is made possible through the financial support of EquestriMalta, whose continuous backing provides local drivers with invaluable opportunities to compete and gain experience on the international stage.

Race Schedule

The Maltese representative is scheduled to compete in two races during Friday’s program:

  • Race 5 (10:00 p.m.): Baldacchino will drive horse number 2, FLORIDA GRIF.
  • Race 7 (11:20 p.m.): He will close the meeting in the final race driving horse number 7, DODO DEGLI ULIVI.

Current Championship Standings

The Casarano event marks the second leg of this year’s championship. The first leg was hosted at the Malta Equidrome last April, where Charles Camilleri successfully represented Malta and clinched first place among the competing drivers.

The drivers competing alongside Baldacchino in Italy representing their respective countries include:

  • Romania: Ios Dumitru
  • Italy: Giampaolo Minnucci
  • Slovenia: Uroš Predan
  • France: David Cinier
  • Portugal: João David Ferreira

The Malta Racing Club has extended its best wishes to Noel Baldacchino for a successful and top-tier performance as he flies the Maltese flag in this prestigious international championship.
