Ruoning Yin held her composure under pressure to end a two-year wait for victory, claiming her sixth LPGA Tour title with a two-shot win at the FM Championship on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Chinese star carded a two-under-par 70 in the final round to finish at 14 under overall, overcoming a dramatic day that featured five birdies and three bogeys.

The 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship winner produced a strong finish at TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts, securing her first LPGA Tour title since 2024.

Yin saved her best for the final hole, making a crucial birdie on the par-five 18th to seal the victory.

“I was really emotional when I was on the 18th green and just felt like all the hard work paid off,” Yin said afterwards. “Just really happy how I grinded out there today.”

Despite holding the lead, Yin admitted she felt the pressure mounting as she kept an eye on her playing partners, Kim Hyo-joo and Kim Sei-young, during the closing stretch.

Kim Hyo-joo finished with a one-under-par 71 to reach 12 under, two shots behind Yin. Kim Sei-young carded a one-over 73 to finish alongside Rose Zhang in fourth place at 10 under.

American Allisen Corpuz claimed third at 11 under after finishing the final round with a one-under-par 71.

Yin admitted the closing hole felt particularly difficult as she tried to protect her advantage against a strong chasing pack.

“I felt like that was the longest 18th hole I’ve ever played — because they’re just so good and they don’t really make mistakes,” Yin said.

The victory also carried significant emotional weight for Yin, who revealed that she had begun questioning whether she would ever win on the LPGA Tour again after a series of near-misses over the past two seasons.

“I’ve had quite a few times where I was really close but just keep missing by one or two,” she said. “I was always harsh on myself… I doubted if I can win on this tour again.”

Yin admitted that the struggles of the previous year had affected her confidence, but she believes the experience has helped her develop a healthier perspective.

“I was not a happy person last year; but this year I think I learn a lot,” she said.

“The biggest thing I learn is that life comes from you, not at you. And that good things take time and just be patient about it.”

After two years of frustration, Yin’s victory at the FM Championship represents a significant milestone in her career and provides a major boost as she looks to build momentum for the remainder of the LPGA Tour season.
